Village Wide Garage Sale
June 19th 2.30pm – 5.30pm -
Once again we are holding our village wide garage sale.
Last year we had 20 garages open, business was brisk and everyone was very pleased with the amount of “junk” they were able to convert into hard cash.
You don’t need a garage to take part – a small area in front of your house will suffice or why not book a space around the village hall or on the village green?
All we ask is that you pay a £5 fee to join in – then all the money you take is yours to keep.
We hope to serve home made cream teas again in the village hall, which proved very popular last year.
We need at least 12 garages to register to make the event worthwhile. Please don’t delay in registering so that we can start advertising the event. Your £5 fee is payable on the day.

The White Colne 2km Olympic Challenge
White Colne has been awarded a grant to participate in the Essex Legacy from the 2012 Games. We have agreed to challenge our residents during the National Open Weekend on July 24th to take part in physical activities to get everyone involved in celebrating the Games coming to London in 2 years time.
We therefore challenge you to either run or walk a 2km course around the Meadows and surrounding countryside. It is not a race. Runners who finish the course will be awarded medals, walkers will receive certificates. Experienced runners may choose to run two laps of the course.
To celebrate further the Stationmaster’s Arms pub in the village hall will be back. Opening at the same time as the challenge starts, those of you unable to run or walk could also try a gentle game of petanque, shoot a few baskets, beat the goalie, or try a game of table tennis, or darts. A table top sports quiz will also be held.
Food will be available from 6.30pm -
We will have to limit the number of runners, so priority will be given to White Colne residents. Runners from outside the village may still register, but will have to go on a waiting list.
