WHITE COLNE COMMUNITY DESIGN GROUP

MINUTES OF MEETING: MONDAY 14th DECEMBER 2009

 

 

Meeting attended by Sarah Adlem (Chair), Martin Allison, Colin Ellard, Richard Gourlay, Chris Pearcey, Rita Pearcey (Sec), Dawn Trusson

 

1. UPDATE FROM MEMBERS ON ACTIVITY SINCE LAST MEETING

 

RP  Time spent on the project by volunteers since the last meeting was recorded and will be added to the Volunteer Time Log.  Consultation Diary will be updated accordingly.  

 

2. EXPENSES

 

No expenses to be claimed this month

 

3. VDS DOCUMENT:

 

Update re compilation - All agreed that Peter’s idea to have maps on the inside cover of the document was a good one.  The inside cover could be designed as a double page, to fold open whilst the document is being read so that the maps are easily referred to.  It would also save quite a lot of space in the document which would have been taken up with maps. As Peter is away, further compilation discussion to be left until next meeting.

 

SA Update re design statements - Sarah will type up the design statements which were considered at the recent sub-group meeting for discussion at next month’s meeting.

 

4. DRAFT VDS EVENT

 

So many villagers commented on the recent questionnaire that they would like to have a pub and shop in the village so we agreed that the theme for the ‘event’ to launch the draft VDS should be to turn the Village Hall into a Shop & Pub ‘For One Day (& Night!) Only’.  Ideally to be held on a Friday, we would hope to organise this sometime in the spring, say late March but of course the timing will depend on our progress with the draft document.  Group will organise their own mail shot to all villagers, e-mail P-F Day contacts etc, and to advertise the event on the website and in White Colne News.  

 

 We agreed that Jane’s advice would be invaluable in organising this event but, meantime, discussed the following ideas and considerations:

 

               Shop to be open, say from 2.00 - 6.00 pm

               Contact: Whites Farm – apple juice etc

   Farmers Markets

   Greenstead Green Post Office

   Colne Engaine Shop

   Spencers

   Blackwells

   Chocolate Planet in Bures

RP Maxine re Jams and Chutneys

   Stock shop on sale and return

Display of the draft VDS document:

 

To decide how best to ‘blow it up’ for the best display.  To consider a message to the effect that, unless villagers comment otherwise, we will assume that they like and agree with it.  Hopefully the draft VDS can also go on the website so that those who can’t attend the event will have the opportunity to comment on it and we should offer to print a copy for those who request it.

 

5. ANY OTHER BUSINESS

 

Chris & Rita attended the Christmas Coffee Morning at RCCE on 9th December.  Although the representatives from villages who are at the same stage as us in the VDS process didn’t attend, they were able to speak with others who are at different stages of the process and it was interesting to hear that they have faced very similar difficulties to us.  They noticed that a copy of our questionnaire and logo were given to representatives as examples and thought, rightly or wrongly (!), that this was reassuring.
