Newsletter from the Chairman of the Parish Council

Dear Residents,

Welcome to the first news letter of the year where we look forward to a busy 2010 in White Colne. We hope this year more residents and businesses of White Colne will become involved in the activities of our village than ever before. Look out for the 2010 White Colne Calendar of events and meetings, which will drop through your door in the next few weeks.

It was good to see so many residents and visitors to our village at our genuinely white White Colne Carols around the Christmas tree evening. I am told by those who have been in the village longer than me that it was the first time they can remember there being "real" snow at the event. Thanks goes out to all those that made a wonderful evening especially Colne Valley Nursery for providing our wonderful Christmas Tree, The Colne Valley Ensemble who braved the cold to provide the music, those who set up the lighting and marquee and those who provided the greatly appreciated mince pies and hot mulled wine. The mulled wine seemed especially popular this being the first time we have actually run out before the last carol. This is an evening we would like to make bigger and better each year so if you have any ideas or would like to help with organisation of this year’s event please contact me.

Wishing everybody in White Colne a great 2010

Kevin Nolan
