10 years ago 2000
A millennium calendar had been produced depicting scenes of the village. 220 copies were delivered free to each household with a further 160 being sold, raising a profit of over £500 for village funds.
In an effort to improve parking, white line markings were painted by Highways on the pavement at Colneford Hill with “little men” depicting a pedestrian route. Outraged residents demanded their removal.
20 years ago 1990
The trustees of the Wm Hunt Trust agreed to make a grant of £2,000 towards the costs for the repair of the village hall roof
The Parish Council negotiated to purchase an allotment plot situated on the Green at an agreed price of £1,130.
30 years ago 1980
It was proposed to turn the disused railway line into a nature reserve.
An appeal had been made against the BDC decision not to allow a housing development on the allotment behind the Butcher’s shop in Colneford Hill.
A tree planting scheme was agreed to plant trees on the Green, Bures Road and Boley Road.
