19 garages in the Village Garage Sale
We now have 19 garages opening for the village wide garage sale on June 20th. We haven't gone to press yet with the treasure trail maps so why not include your garage and sell some of your unwanted stuff? email janetaylor@whitecolne.com asap.

New date for Highways work at Colneford Hill
Highways have now informed us that work to repair the wall at Colneford Hill will not start until at least the end of August, due to a delay in sourcing the bricks.
Midsummer madness at Village Garage Sale
Saturday June 20th saw 18 garages open in the village, tempting passers by to stop and part with their cash. And stop they did! Cars were pulling up in Colchester Road, parking all around the Green and way up Colne Park Road. The car park at the village hall was also full. Even properties on the outskirts of the village reported good sales. It was lovely to see so many people walking around our village, some carrying weird and wonderful items.. A short sharp dose of rain mid afternoon failed to dampen spirits with "stall holders" pronouncing the afternoon a run away success. Many residents claim sales for the afternoon in excess of £70 . A very reasonable amount for just two and a half hours, with much less rubbish going to land fill, leaving some very clean and tidy garages. Refreshments were served at the village hall; the cream teas being especially popular. Probably the best result for the day was the wonderful community spirit and happy atmosphere generated by the event and with cries of "can we do it again next year" the date has already been booked into the village calendar for the same midsummer weekend.So if you didn't open your garage this year, don't be shy! All manner of different items sold. The old adage, one man's junk is another man's treasure, was certainly true at this event. So keep your junk for another year and allow it to morph into treasure next Midsummer. Then we'll do the madness bit all over again.

50 Club News Jean and Colin Armstrong
There have been some pretty dramatic losses this quarter with deaths and moves and the like.
In 12 months we are £8.50 down on takings per month, just short of 10%. We have therefore reluctantly decided to drop off the £5 prize from May.
